🔎 Things to remember

  • New Occupational Health Forms: As of June 1, 2026, new official forms are required for the medical monitoring of employees (fitness/unfitness notices, follow-up certificates, proposals for workplace accommodations, and certificates of medical contraindications).
  • APER Law Requirement for Parking Lots: The law mandates the installation of solar shade structures (or green roofs) covering at least half the area of parking lots measuring 10,000 m² or more, with a theoretical effective date of July 1, 2026.
  • Crucial deadline of June 30, 2026: This is the deadline for the owners of these parking lots to sign a commitment agreement and pay a deposit in order to be eligible for a deferral of the requirement.
  • Conditions for the Extension (2028 Target): In addition to the June down payment, a purchase order for high-performance, resilient photovoltaic panels must be placed by December 31, 2026, to qualify for an installation deadline of January 1, 2028.
  • June 1, 2026: New forms related to medical follow-up

    The forms related to the medical monitoring of workers will be revised effective June1, 2026. The following forms are affected:

    • templates for fitness-for-duty notices, unfitness-for-duty notices, certificates of individual health monitoring, and proposals for workplace accommodations;
    • Templates for certificates confirming the absence of medical contraindications to driving and performing certain electrical work.

    Occupational health and safety departments must ensure that they use these new models.

    June 30, 2026: Final deadline to take advantage of the APER Act’s deferral for parking lots of 10,000 m² or larger

    As a reminder, the APER Act requires that, as of July1, 2026, parking lots of at least 10,000 m² must install shade structures incorporating a renewable energy generation system (*) covering at least half of their total area.

    (*) or combined shade structures and green roofs, or other renewable energy generation systems

    To be eligible for the extension to January 1, 2028, the parking lot owner must provide proof of a binding contract with a down payment no later than June 30, 2026, and a purchase order signed before December 31, 2026, for high-performance, resilient solar panels, with installation scheduled to take place before January 1, 2028.
