Since April 8, 2024, new commercial or industrial buildings must integrate an automation and control system with a power output of 70 kW or more.

April 8, 2024: Mandatory installation of a building automation and control system for new buildings

The requirement to implement a building automation and control system applies to new buildings (building permits filed after April 8, 2024):

  • that house commercial or non-commercial service sector activities, including those belonging to legal entities (companies, associations, etc.) in the primary (agriculture) or secondary (industries) sectors,
  • AND equipped with a heating system or an air conditioning system, combined or not with a ventilation system, whose nominal useful output is greater than 70 kW

Note: Previously, new commercial buildings were affected when the nominal useful power exceeded 290 kW.
